Makkal Osai Banned!! Ops Lalang 2?

At the height of Ops Lalang 1, The Star was banned and numerous opposition politicians made Kamunting their home for some time.

Today in a breaking news from Malaysiakini, Makkal Osai BANNED.

It also reported that their General Manager, SM Periasamy, confirmed that the ministry issued the letter which stated that the daily's application 'will not be considered'.

The letter did not state any reasons for the rejection.

While Periasamy was quoted as saying he will appeal tomorrow.

Makkal Osai, whose office is located in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, has some 100 staff. Their fate remains unknown.

Now, talking about freer press and that the government has learnt their lesson that they lost due to their arrogance and suppression of freedom of information and all those garb. Today they decided to ban Makkal Osai which is supposedly close to Datuk Subramaniam, who has since made his peace with MIC head honcho cum comedian, Samy Vellu.

If they are being penalized for their wide coverage on HINDRAF and the opposition in the last election, this would prove once and for all that the current BN government has not learnt their lesson!

My thoughts goes out to the 100 employees who would suddenly find their rice bowl smashed into a million smithereens....

Come to think of it... who will be next eh?
