Kevin Rudd and Whats Cooking...

When Kevin Rudd visited Malaysia not too long ago, he adhered to protocol to not pay Anwar a visit, which is fine really. 1 day, one may not have enough time so on and so forth... he went one step further to proclaim Malaysia's democracy alive and kicking.....

That got many riled up. My friend sent me this article which I think makes fair reading into why Rudd make that statement.... HERE.

Excerpts:

But for Mr Rudd to praise Malaysia's democracy as vibrant for the way it has handled its democratic transition takes the cake.

Malaysia was neither a dictatorship nor a totalitarian state from which to transit to democracy.

Rather, it is widely perceived that Malaysia is now headed the other way - from a democracy to feudalism characterised by patronage.

Mr Rudd must never forget that a nation that jails innocent people is hardly a vibrant democracy.....

So why is Mr Rudd so keen on ties with Malaysia's unsteady leadership?

The realpolitik has much to do with getting Malaysia's endorsement for Australia's bid to get a rotating seat in the UN Security Council.

Mr Rudd also seeks Malaysian acceptance of Canberra in the East Asian Economic Caucus, which Kuala Lumpur has always opposed for geographical and cultural reasons.

JOOSE? Maybe? Thanks Vince for the article.

Huwaa...Malaysia's democracy is alive and kicking? Aww, that's news to me. I dun think democracy works the way it's supposed to work, anyway...not when the country is in havoc and people's opinion are not taken into consideration and efforts are made to shut people up.

I read everything. My point is very clear on this, how is it that what Ruud said couldnt be accepted?Thast what I said, kalau pujian di hentam, and kalau Ruud had said democracy is dead in Malaysia, I AM SURE some BLOGGERS Including you and some readers will print it in BIG BOLD LETTERS

Care to answer? Or you only read your fellow bloggers postings that only condemn the govt? :)

And you? Condemning the opps in every statement? Whats the difference?

warrior2 said...

I dont condemn the opps. I condemn what is written!

Hopefully you FINALLY COMPREHEND

Malaysian Joe said...

Ahhh... even the most obvious is written you will condemn... because it is not in your favour...Understood.. its your "rights" but please respect mine as well.

Like I said, you seem to lack comprehension.
Lets take this article that you posted.

Go thu it and go thru the various comments starting with Clef.

Now what do you see or comprehend?

I read everything.... you certainly must be very "knowledgeable". So much so that what has happened has been conveniently forgotten... Rudd say Malaysia's democracy is alive... while I agree with this article. Are you saying now that I am not entitled to my own opinion in my own blog? Did I ever slam down your opinion? I disagreed for the fact that you have conveniently forgotten what has happened, or is happening. You seem to condone injustice done or maybe you see it justifiable.

Care to define what you condemn that is being written? Anything that is written in support of the opposition, you condemn. Which part of the writing that you deem to be false and then what you deem is truth? Maybe my ability to "comprehend" as you put it is poor... that is your perception. Similar to my "perception" of the government. Am I not entitled to it? Go tell other Malaysians in your blog what you think...
